In the beginning of Chapter 5 Dill tells Scout how she is the only girl he will ever love, a bunch of childish stuff. Scout started to feel left out because the boys would only let her be in on anything if they needed her. Scout heads over to Miss Maudie's house and asks why she does what she does if she hates her house so much. She gets to the subject of Boo Radley. She was asking if he was still alive. Scout found out that Boo Radley's name is actually Arthur. Scout, Jem, and Dill attempt to give Boo a letter by pushing it through their window. It was not a very successful try, they got into trouble with Atticus for it and had to stay home.
The beginning of Chapter 6 is, Jem asking Atticus if him and Scout could go see Dill since it was his last day in Maycomb. Dill, Scout, and Jem decide to go over to the Radley place and look in the windows. They are all scared out of their minds. Jem walked up to the house and stepped on the first step and it squeaked. While Jem was looking in the window Scout saw a shadow. When Dill saw it he put his hands to his face in horror. They ran off and Jem got stuck in the fence. He was so scared he left his pants behind. They heard shots, and swiftly walked out to see what was the commotion. Nathen Radley was standing in his yard, shooting at niggers. People asked why Jem had no pants on and Dill's excuse was that they were playing strip poker. The kids were sent straight home, and straight to bed. While Scout and Jem were laying in bed, Jem decided to go get his pants that he had left behind before someone found them. Scout waited patiently for Jem to come back. When Jem got back he showed Scout his pants. They were mended where they were torn and he said they were just lying across the fence. Someone had found them and sewed them up for him.
