In Chapter One you are pretty much getting to know Maycomb County and the main characters. The story about Boo Radley is reveled in this chapter. The book is set in the 1930s. During the summer Jem and Scout Finch met a friend, his name is Dill Harris. They became close friends, but when the summer ended Dill had to go back home.
In Chapter Two, Jem and Scout start school. Scout is in the first grade and doesn't have a great start. The teacher doesn't like the idea that Atticus, Jem and Scout's father, taught her how to read before she started school. Scout was not aloud to read again with her father. She met a kid, Walter Cunningham, that was very poor and wasn't able to bring his lunch. Scout was trying to explain to the teacher that he was too poor, but the teacher spanked her for speaking out.
